I am headed up to Yorkshire for the wedding of one of my boyfriend’s school friends. It seems I don’t have anything appropriate to attend the wedding of two very active Christians (i.e. no boobs or gams). It is Wednesday now and we head up to Yorkshire Friday night so that leaves tomorrow night, and if I’m not successful, I fear I will be showing to at the wedding playing Guy’s tarty girlfriend, wearing a dress that was intended for far darker hours, not the first impression I want to make. Guy keeps making “jokes” about parading me around as his trophy girlfriend, which frightens me a little bit.
You may not appreciate the style of York girls, but goodness gracious they do like to dress up. I was out with Guy around Christmas last year and I was dressed very sensibly, in a way that would protect my extremities from hypothermia. The fine ladies of York clearly missed the weather report that day and were dressed to the nines, for the most part wearing mini-dresses and completely unfazed by the fact that they had forgotten their jackets somewhere in their drinking binges. In my jeans and quirky t, I was invisible and somewhat under dressed, not a mistake I intend to make twice.
So in short I am looking for a dress that is neither too short nor too mumsy, something that will look chic at my graduation next Friday, nothing too frou, and nothing in black, my staple colour. Help?
PS the very bad picture is me wearing not the right dress…

I like the blue dress you’re wearing in the profile pic! If you want another one, and you feel like ordering from the states (maybe not in time for this Friday, but it looks like I already missed that anyway) you should look around on http://www.gatheringguide.com/ec/bridal_shops_dresses.html. It’s my latest shopping discovery and I am having so much fun going to all the stores.
