I’m keeping an eye (read obsessively checking Vogue.co.uk) for their runway coverage of the London collections.
Collado Garcia opened the week and its space age detailing combined with beautiful Grecian-style ice blue dresses. Much of the collection centered around the designers looking at 2001 from the 1960s
Topshop Unique presented a 1980s inspired collection. Featuring stone-wash jeans, I was a little bit disappointed by the continued emphasis on the 80s… Has this trend not yet run its course?!?! It feels like too much of an homage to another era. There wasn’t really anything there that I felt I needed to have, but I can see it being a hit amongst the Shoreditch set.
Ossie Clark went beyond homage to the brand’s signature prints from the 70s to produce more solid colours and shapes. Featuring a lot of the jewel brights and tunics which look set to be large trends for this winter. It was an ok but not particularly inspiring collection.
Ann-Sophie Back’s collection was particularly impressive. Taking inspiration from liposuction she used draw string gathering and metal clasps to resemble the staples used in plastic surgery. I particularly liked the black and white horizontally striped mini dresses, which evoked a quirky take on the Herve Leger bandage dresses.
