Tina Brown

Love her or hate her, Tina Brown was editing Tatler by the time she was 25. I’m 25. I guess this is both an explanation and an excuse. I haven’t been updating because there is much to be done. Job applications, interviews - I had some funny ones last week, which I will tell you about when I can, not to mention my freelancing for the wonderful greenbang.com.

I don’t necessarily admire the way she’s worked in the past - firing most of the staff on Vanity Fair and The New Yorker, but as a young journalist you’ve got to admire what she’s been able to achieve.

Anyway the indomitable Brown has launched a site called thedailybeast.com. The site is rather good, combining her trademark blend of high and low culture. Check it out and by the time you find your interest waning, you can come back to me and I might have something here to entertain you. Hopefully.

What an absolute mess of a site both design-wise and editorially. Front page story by June Sarpong titled “Beast Interview: Tony Blair on the Bailout”. From the text: “I tried to press him on whom he was secretly supporting, but he wouldn’t bite-maybe next time.” What great class-A journalism!
